When I woke up this morning, at 3 a.m. mind you, to the wind howling and rain pelting the windows I thought, “What an icky first day of spring this is going to be.” Mother Nature got March backwards. March came in like a lamb and is leaving like a lion. Despite the periods of rain and the nonstop gusts I am thankful we’ve had a mild winter, though I’m not sure what that holds for the rest of the year. I’m grateful we haven’t had the terrible weather like the mid west and east coast have had in the past several months or even the bone-chilling cold we had last winter. It was frigid and it snowed – a lot. We even had snow in March! But today’s chilly morning made me remember the few days in January where we had a good freeze. The first day my girlfriends and I had made a date to go on a 5 mile run. We kept our date – and ran at 9:30 in the morning. Oh baby. It was cooold! The roads were a little icy. It was hard to breathe. But we soldiered on and along the way I kept noticing how beautiful everything was in the morning light. The peeking sun was dancing on the ice. So the next morning I left the house early again, this time by car and took tons of pictures at a nearby park. These are my favorites.
